Myostatin is a natural substance that mammals produce in their bodies. Though it is a natural protein that the body produces, it inhibits the growth of muscles in most people. Eat a high protein diet. Protein is required to increase muscle mass and help the muscles recover from exercise. Add low fat, high protein meats like chicken and fish to a diet. Beans and lentils are another good source of protein and are less expensive than meats.
Sleep seven to eight hours a night. The muscles need sleep and rest to fully recover after exercise. Shorting sleep will only produce more myostatin in the body rather than reduce it due to the fatigue. Sleeping the full eight hours will allow the muscles to recover from exercise and will lower myostatin as a result.
Talk to a doctor about myostatin inhibitors. Myostatin inhibitors are an option to reduce myostatin in the body, but they are not for everyone. Ask a doctor about potential side effects and problems with medications.
Lower stress. Limiting stress is always good for the body, but it also lowers myostatin at the same time. Stress is known to cause a large number of health problems due to the hormones produced in the body to deal with the situation. Myostatin is produced during stressful situations as well, so avoiding stress will lower myostatin in the body.
