Your ISP (Internet service provider) has the power to control which websites you are able to access through its service, and it can also track and trace your browsing habits. If you are looking to hide your IP address from your ISP to protect your privacy, or you want to be able to access websites that are being blocked by your Internet provider, you can accomplish this successfully by using a VPN, also known as a virtual private network.

Overplay is a VPN that has servers in 12 different countries to provide fast Internet speeds to its users. When you use Overplay to browse the Net, your IP address is kept hidden with different IP addresses located in different countries, so your ISP cannot intercept or monitor your browsing activities. Overplay charges a £6.40 monthly fee (as of 2010) to access its VPN. Once payment is submitted, your account is activated instantly.

    Go to the Golden Frog website and access its VyprVPN to conceal your IP address from your Internet service provider (see Resources). VyprVPN offers a secure connection when you browse the Web. This VPN hides your IP address to keep your ISP from invading your privacy and spying on your browsing habits. Plus, VyprVPN also enables you to bypass any type of browsing restrictions and protects your identity from data sniffers and hackers. VyprVPN offers two types of plans: the VyprVPN Pro, which is £12.90 per month, and the VyprVPN for £9.70 a month (as of 2010).
