How to restart a seized ipod

Updated July 20, 2017

If you experience an error while using the iPod and it seizes up, you can simply restart it to resolve any issues. A restart does not affect any data saved to the hard drive.

Turn on the iPod.

Toggle the "Hold" switch at the top of the iPod. Make sure it is in the "Off" position.

Press the "Menu" and "Select" button at the same time until the "Apple" logo appears on the screen. This usually takes six to eight seconds.

Connect the iPod to a power source or computer if it is unresponsive. Make sure your fingers are not touching any part of the click-wheel.
