  1. 1

Press the "Power" button on the top of your TomTom One XL to power the device off. Gently wipe down your TomTom One XL's touch-screen using a dry microfiber cloth, if the screen is unresponsive when you press on it. It is possible that dirt and grime are interfering with the device's ability to sense your touch. Power the GPS back on and press various buttons on the screen to ensure that it is functioning properly.

  2. 2

Connect your TomTom One XL GPS to an available USB port on your computer, using the bundled USB data cable if your device is not functioning properly. Wait as the TomTom HOME software automatically launches. Click on the "Contents" tab at the top of the screen and select "Restore." Wait as your TomTom One XL is restored to its factory settings.

  3. 3

Reset your TomTom One XL GPS if the device locks up while using it in your vehicle. Locate the "Reset" label on the bottom of the device. Insert a straightened out paper clip, or a pen tip, into this hole and hold it there for five seconds. The TomTom One XL will now reboot and power back on.
