How to Make Penguin Crafts
Cute little penguins can be translated into equally cute crafts. (penguin image by Peter Thornhill from

  1. 1

Use a serrated knife to cut off the bottleneck atop your two-liter bottle, then place some masking tape across the resulting open hole. Remove the label from your bottle as well.

  2. 2

Paint the plastic bottle with white and black acrylic latex paint and a large artist's brush. Paint one side of the bottle all black to represent the penguin's backside, and paint the other side white for the penguins white face, chest and belly. Allow the paint to dry for two hours, or longer if the paint brand directs.

  3. 3

Cut out a wide triangle shape from a sheet of black foam, 5 inches wide and 3 inches on the other two sides. Repeat this step and you now have your two penguin wings.

  4. 4

Cut out a small triangle from your orange foam, 1.5 inches on two sides and an inch wide. This will be your penguin beak. Cut two small, webbed penguin feet about 2 inches wide and 2 inches in length with one edge cut into a zigzag to represent the penguin's clawed toes.

  5. 5

Glue large googly eyes at the top of your painted bottle, about 3 inches from the top, centred and 2 inches apart. Glue your orange beak an inch below the eyes and centred.

  6. 6

Apply glue to one of the long edges of your triangle wing and apply it to one side of your bottle, then repeat with the other wing on the other side.

  1. 1

Cut an oval shape out of black construction paper 10 inches in length and 5 inches wide, then cut a smaller oval 6 inches in length and 3 inches wide from a white piece of construction paper.

  2. 2

Glue the white oval atop your black oval, lining up the bottom edge of your white oval with the bottom edge of your black oval. The white oval will serve as your penguin's chest.

  3. 3

Cut a triangle from an orange piece of orange construction paper making it an inch long on two sides and an inch wide. Cut two webbed penguin feet from the orange paper, about an inch wide and 2 inches long, again with one edge zigzagged for toes.

  4. 4

Trace your hand twice on a piece of black construction paper. Cut out your hand-shaped tracings.

  5. 5

Glue feet to the bottom of your penguin oval, and glue googly eyes and your beak atop the oval body of your penguin. Take your hand shapes and glue them upside down on both sides of your oval to serve as wings.
