How to Remove Candle Wax From Vinyl Flooring

Updated February 21, 2017

When you drop a candle or spill candle wax onto your vinyl floor, the melted wax creates a mess that you must clean up. The goal is to change the texture of the candle wax, because hard wax is much easier to remove. Hardening the wax can be done with household items you have on hand.

Place a handful of ice cubes in a plastic sandwich bag.

Set the bag on top of the candle wax, and let it sit there for five minutes.

Remove the bag, and scrape off the hardened wax with a butter knife. Instead of flaking, the wax will now come off in large chunks, leaving little or no residue behind.

Wipe the vinyl with a damp cloth and drop of dish soap.

Things You'll Need
