It's professional software that can cost over £650 and is thus a popular target for software piracy. Adobe has installed aggressive piracy protection in the Creative Suite--protection that doesn't always work as planned. If your legally purchased software suite is giving you licensing errors, such as "Licensing for this product has expired," there's a simple process you can initiate to reinstate your product key.

Instructions

    Turn on your computer and log in. Click the system clock in the Task Bar, then click "Change time and date settings." Set the system clock to January 1, 2006. Click "OK."

    Start a CS4 program like Photoshop. Click the "Help" menu, then "Deactivate." Click "Erase this serial number," then click "OK." Close the program.

    Click the system clock in the Task Bar, then click "Change time and date settings." Set the system clock to today's date. Click "OK."

    Restart the program you just closed. At the registration screen, enter your CS4 serial number (the serial number is inside the CS4 retail packaging, or in the email confirmation from the Adobe store if you purchased a digital download) and click "OK."

    Turn on your computer and log in. Click the "Preferences" link on the OSX dock, or click the Apple icon in the top left corner and click "System Preferences." Click "Date and Time." Uncheck the option to set date and time automatically. Set the system clock to January 1, 2006. Close the window.

    Navigate back to the "Date and Time" pane in the System Preferences window. Set the system clock to today's date. Close the window.
