Booting your Dell Latitude CPI D266XT from the CD-ROM drive allows you to run programs, such as operating system installation wizards and hardware update wizards, on your computer before the operating system is loaded. Changing the boot sequence so that the computer starts from the CD-ROM drive is done in the System Setup program, also called the System BIOS. The trick to entering the System Setup program is pressing the right key combination at the right time.

Insert the disk you want to boot from into the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer.
Press the "Fn" and "F1" keys simultaneously while the Dell logo is on the screen to enter the System Setup program.
Use the down arrow to go to "Boot Sequence."
Use the left and right arrows to change the "Boot Sequence" value to the CD-ROM drive.
