How to hook up external speakers to a plasma tv

Updated April 17, 2017

Hooking up external speakers to a plasma TV gives you a fuller audio experience than the flat sound that comes from your TV's native speakers. External speakers are not only higher quality sound devices than what you get with your plasma TV, they also deliver sound to your ears in a different way because the speakers are not positioned directly under the TV screen. The entire process takes five minutes and does not require any tools.

Plug the speakers' power cord into an electrical wall outlet.

Plug the red and white audio wires into the "Audio out" TV ports of the same colour. Plug the other end of the red and white audio cables into the red and white audio ports of the speakers.

Press the "Menu" button on the TV's remote control and use the arrow buttons to scroll to the "Audio options." Select "Speaker Source," then choose the "External" option and press the "Enter" button.
