Tying boot laces helps keep your boots tight on your feet while you walk. There are many different ways to tie your boot laces. Some methods can be used casually, as a method to simply keep your boots on your feet. Other methods are used for more strenuous types of walking, such as hiking or climbing. Some methods are more popular in different parts of the world, such as Europe. All techniques start with your laces pulled through the bottom two loops of your boots.

Instructions

  1. 1

Take one end of the lace and pull it upwards. Pull it right across the face of the boot. Pull it through the loop above the bottom right loop.

  2. 2

Take the other side of the lace and cross it upwards in the same method. The laces should cross over top of each other during this process. Adjust the lengths and tightness if necessary.

  3. 3

Repeat this process until you reach the top of the boot. Pull the laces tightly. You may have to adjust the length of the laces so they are even during this process. You should have several inches of boot laces left on each side.

  4. 4

Tie the left over laces into a knot. Use whatever knot you find comfortable. You may wish to double knot to keep the laces well tied.

  1. 1

Pull the left end of your shoe lace upwards on the left side. Skip one of the loops. Pull it through the loop above the loop you skipped. Pull it across the boot face to the right side. Loop it through the loop directly across from it.

  2. 2

Pull the right end through the hole directly above it on the right side. Drag it across the boot face to the left and pull it through the loop directly across from it.

  3. 3

Alternate these methods on each side as you go up the boot. Make any length adjustments necessary as you go. Pull the laces tightly and tie them at the top in whatever knot you prefer.

  1. 1

Pull the left lace diagonally right across the boot face. Pull it through the loop two loops above the bottom loop on the right side. Drag it across the boot face to the hole directly opposite on the left side.

  2. 2

Pull the right lace diagonally to the left. Loop it through the hole directly above the bottom hole on the left side. Drag it across the boot face and through the hole directly across from it on the right side.

  3. 3

Repeat these steps till you reach the top. However, every time you pull the right lace diagonally, you should go two holes above the loop you are starting at instead of just one.

  4. 4

Make any adjustments in length necessary and tie your left over laces in whatever method you prefer.
