How to Remove Windows Validation Pop-ups

The Windows validation pop-up is a feature of the Windows Genuine Advantage program. The program was created by Microsoft to validate copies of the Windows operating system. Although the purpose of the validation pop-ups is to protect the user from counterfeit copies of Windows, the pop-ups can be intrusive and annoying. To stop them from occurring, remove the Windows Genuine Advantage program from the hard drive of your computer.

    Right-click on the "Task Bar," then select "Task Manager" from the pop-up list. The Task Manager dialogue window will open.

    Click the "Processes" tab, then scroll down the list and right-click on "WGASetup.exe." Select "End Process Tree" from the pop-up list, then close the Task Manager window.

    Click "Start," then "All Programs" followed by "Accessories."

    Click "System Tools," then "Scheduled Tasks." Right-click "WGASetup" from the list of tasks, then select "Delete" from the pop-up list.

    Click "Start," then "My Computer" and double-click "Local Disk (C:)." Double-click "Windows," then "System32" and scroll down to the "KB905474" folder. Right-click the folder, then click "Delete" from the pop-up menu. Restart your computer.
