Guitar Rig 3 is a guitar amplifier simulator. You can choose from dozens of different amp modes, pedal effects and EQ settings. You can use Guitar Rig 3 not only for guitar, but also for bass guitar and certain vocal situations. You can purchase Guitar Rig 3 either as stand-alone software, or with the addition of a floorboard foot-pedal. Depending on your sound card, setting up Guitar Rig 3 can vary, such as with an integrated sound card. Some sound cards will have varying ports that will require different adaptors to work.

Purchase and install the Guitar Rig 3 software. Follow all the necessary steps to install the program's software. Once you install the Guitar 3 Rig software, launch the program to verify you installed it properly. Next, check the sound settings within Guitar Rig 3 and make sure your integrated sound card is the "Output Device." If Guitar Rig 3 gives you the option to update your software after installing, you will want to do so.
Identify the type of input jacks your integrated sound card has. Most integrated sound cards have 1/16-inch inputs. If this is the case, you may need to purchase an adaptor in order to plug in your guitar. Most guitar cables are 1/4-inch jacks, so look for a 1/4-inch to 1/16-inch adaptor. You can find these adaptors at most electronics stores such as RadioShack. If you have a USB connection from the Pedal, you should be able to directly plug into a USB slot without any problems. Just make sure you list the Pedal as the "Output Device" within Guitar Rig 3 instead of the integrated sound card.
Turn Guitar Rig 3 on by selecting the "Power" button on the top right-hand corner of the software. Once the power is on, you should see the levels going up and down if the guitar is correctly connected. Make sure the guitar volume is up when testing. If you are also using the pedal, make sure the LED lights are on; as this is a sign it's properly connected.
