The Mercedes-Benz C240 uses 5W-40 synthetic oil. Mercedes-Benz recommends using Mobil1 synthetic in your C240. When you change the oil in your C240, you need to drain the oil from the oil pan before you remove the filter. Use caution to save the brass washer when you remove the drain plug from the pan. Change the oil in your C240 every 10,000 miles or at the prompt of your "Service Required" indicator.

Instructions

  1. 1

Park your C240 on a flat surface. Raise the car with a jack. Use a set of jack stands to keep the car elevated.

  2. 2

Locate the hex screws securing the plastic pan covering the undercarriage. There are screws staggered around the outer circumference of the pan. Remove the screws with a hex screwdriver. Lower the pan and set it aside.

  3. 3

Locate the oil pan mounted at the bottom of the engine compartment near the firewall. Find the oil plug at the rear half of the oil pan.
