How to Convert ECM to ISO

Updated July 19, 2017

The Error Code Modeler (ECM) is a file extension created by Neill Corlett. According to Corlett, "ECM . . . lets you prepare CD image files (such as BIN, CDI, NRG, CCD, or similar) so that they'll compress far better in programs such as WinRAR." Although ECM is an efficient means of digital distribution, there is no native program to read and burn the files directly. Using ImgBurn, you can convert ECM files to ISO for more versatility.

Download and install ImgBurn, a free image-burning software (see Resources).

Launch ImgBurn and select the "Create Image File from files/folders" icon. Click on the "File" menu and select "Browse for a Source File." Select the ECM file you wish to convert.

Select the destination folder under the "Destination" menu by clicking on the "Browse Folder" icon. Click on the "Build" icon once the destination folder is selected. Wait for ImgBurn to convert your ECM file into an ISO file.

Locate your ISO file in the destination folder you created in Step 3.
