A closet can be disguised by replacing its door with a "hidden" door -- a door that, to the eye, doesn't appear to be a door at all. To make a hidden door for a closet, you'll need to start with a bookcase kit from a hardware or furniture store. You can build a hidden door for your closet in two or three days if you have a moderate amount of skill working with basic tools.

Things you need
- Bookcase kit
- Wood screws
- Electric screwdriver
- Four sliding pads
- Flathead screwdriver
Place a dropcloth on the floor. Place the parts of a bookcase kit on the dropcloth. Assemble the bookcase's frame, shelf brackets and back according to the instructions provided, using a hammer, nails, wood screws and an electric screwdriver.
Stand the bookcase upside down on the dropcloth. Place a sliding pad on each corner of the bookcase. Hammer a nail into each sliding pad to secure it to the bookcase. Stand the bookcase right side up.
Insert the tip of a flathead screwdriver into the seam between one of the closet door hinges and the hinge pin. Pull up on the tip to dislodge the hinge pin. Clamp the jaws of the pliers around the top of the hinge pin and pull the pin out. Repeat this procedure with the other hinge pin(s).
Pull the closet door out from its hinges. Place the door in an out-of-the-way place, like a garage or attic.
Place the bookcase in front of the closet. Place the shelves into the bookcase. Fill the shelves with books and small objects such as figurines.
Stand to the right side of the bookcase. Push the bookcase to the left to move the hidden door you have made so you can enter the closet. Push the bookcase to the right to cover the closet when you are done using it.
