A .CHK file is a Microsoft Windows save file fragment. Disk cleaners, such as CHKDISK and ScanDisk, store the .CHK file in a "Found" folder once the disk scan has completed. You can delete .CHK files since the information from the file is in another location on the hard disk. CHK-Mate is a file recovery program that examines the contents of a file and recovers all of the information.
