How to Collapse Information in Word Documents

Inserting a collapsible feature in a Microsoft document is made easy with the add-in known as "More." Used in both Word 2007 and Word 2010, it offers tools that users can use to collapse and expand their options in the different sections of a Word document. It not only supports macros for creating collapse and expand options, but it can also be applied to headings, numbered lists and more. To get the feature, you have to access the More add-on in the accommodating Microsoft Word programs.

    Download and install the More add-in. (See Resources.)

    Open the Microsoft Word program by double-clicking it.

    Select the content that you want to bundle and click "Standard More," located on the first button on the far left of the menu. This will insert a marker on the document that you will be able to collapse and expand.

    Insert collapsibles for the headings by selecting "Heading" in the document menu. This will give you the option to collapse headings. You can choose to summarise the documents by only displaying the headings or print only the document's headings in this feature as well.

    Click the "More" image marker to expand the heading or content once it has been collapsed.

    Click the "No Mores" section to remove collapsible information.

    Customise your collapsible marker by clicking "Create/Edit" under the "More Marker" section.
