How to Program a Pontiac Grand Prix PK3 Key

The Grand Prix is among the many Pontiac vehicles that are equipped with transponder key capabilities. With the Grand Prix, the PK3 key can be programmed to your engine transmitter to start your car. Also known as a chip key or electronic key, this technology can be programmed at home in just minutes and allows you to add an extra level of convenience and security to your vehicle.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Insert your unprogrammed key into the ignition and turn it to the "Accessories" position. Leave it there for 10 minutes and 30 seconds then turn it to the "Off" position.

    Turn the key to the "Accessories" position within 45 seconds, leave it there for another 10 minutes and 30 seconds then turn it "Off" again.

  3. 3

    Cycle the key in the "Accessories" position for a third time, leave it there for 10 minutes and 30 seconds then cycle it "Off."

  4. 4

    Turn the key back to the "On" position within 10 seconds, leave it there for one second then cycle it back to the "Off" position to end the programming sequence.
