How to Reset the Engine Lights on the Chevy Monte Carlo

Updated July 20, 2017

A great safety feature of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo is the warning light system that displays a light whenever a malfunction occurs with your vehicle. Most of the time the warning light resets when the problem is addressed, but occasionally the lights stay on even after the problem is fixed. Resetting a warning light on a Monte Carlo is even easier with the added Display Indicator Console (DIC), which allows you to reset the lights by simply pressing a button. These instructions apply only to the 2007 Monte Carlo.

Display the light you wish to reset on the DIC by pressing the corresponding button.

Press the SET/RESET button on the DIC. Hold the button for five seconds. The selected light should reset.

Repeat the procedure if the light is still not reset.

Place the key in the ignition, but do not turn on the engine.

Pump the accelerator three times within five seconds. Remove the key from the ignition. This will reset the oil light.

Place the key back in the ignition, but do not turn on the engine. Turn the parking lights on and off three times within five seconds. Remove the key from the ignition. This will reset the tire pressure light.

Warning

Only the engine oil and tire pressure lights can be reset manually.
