How to Convert PSIA to KPA

PSIA (pounds per square inch absolute) is a pressure measurement that assumes a starting point of zero in a perfect vacuum where, by definition, air pressure does not exist. This helps to get a true and accurate reading. kPa (Kilopascal or kpascal) is a relative unit for measuring pressure in the metric system. Although PSIA is absolute and kPa is relative, you can still convert between them.

Instructions

  1. 1

Enter the PSIA value into your calculator. For example, you might have the standard PSIA at sea level, 14.7, enter that in your calculator.

  2. 2

Press the multplication key, usually "*."

  3. 3

Enter ".1449," then press the "=" key. The 14.7 sea level PSIA results in a 2.13003 kPa.
