How to Replace a Windshield Wiper on a Toyota RAV4

Updated July 20, 2017

The windshield wipers on a Toyota Rav4 should be replaced every 12 to 18 months. Blades should be checked every six months to determine if they need replacing. Most windshield wiper blades are made of rubber that wears out due to weather. Some wiper blades are specially made to last longer and are more expensive. Replacing windshield wipers on a Rav4 is a simple process that takes less than 20 minutes to complete.

Turn the car and the windshield wipers on. Turn the car off when the windshield wipers are about halfway up to allow easier access.

Lift the windshield wiper arms off the window.

Push the wiper locking tab upward and pull down on the old wiper blade to remove it.

Attach a new wiper blade to the driver side by positioning the wiper hooks in the same places as the previous wiper blade and pushing upward until you hear a click, which signals the wiper blade is locked into place. Use the correct size wiper blade.

Attach a new, correct-size wiper blade to the passenger side the same way you did on the driver side in Step 4.
