How to Remove Songs From a CD

You can remove songs from a CD use software that is pre-installed on your computer. However, in order to do so, the CD must be in the CD-RW format. The CD-RW format, which stands for CD Rewritable, is the only CD format that can have songs or files erased and rewritten to it. All other CD formats cannot be modified after they have had data written to them once.

Instructions

    Insert the CD you would like to remove songs from into your computer.

  2. 2

    Open the Finder, click on the "Applications" folder, open the "Utilities" folder and double-click the "Disc Utility" program.

    Click "Erase" at the top of the "Disc Utility" program.

  4. 4

    Click to highlight the CD that you want to remove songs from in the column on the left side of the program.

    Click the "Erase" button on the bottom right side of the "Erase" tab. After doing so, all of the songs (or files) on your CD will be erased. You have now successfully removed songs from a CD.

    Insert the CD you would like to remove songs from into your computer.

    Click the "Start" button and select "Computer."

    Click the "CD Burner" icon from within the Windows Explorer window that opens. Then click "Erase this disc" from within the toolbar that appears.

    Follow the prompts in the wizard that opens and all of the songs (or files) on your CD will be erased. You have now successfully removed songs from a CD.
