How to Fix a Skype Audio Problem

In an age where meeting and conversing with people over the Internet is becoming the standard form of communication there is little room for faulty programming. For Skype users, being able to see but not hear the person on the other end can be frustrating. Losing the ability to hear the person you are talking to can make or break everything from business deals to relationships. Fortunately remedying audio problems on Skype can be done quickly so you can get back to your conversation.

Instructions

    Log on to the Skype program on your computer so you can see the drop-down menus at the top of the window.

    Open a web browser and type in www.skype.com in the URL box at the top of the window to visit the Skype website.

    Click on the "Support" tab at the top on the window on the Skype website. Type in "Skype audio problems windows" in the Help search engine.

    Select the "Troubleshooter Call Quality" link.

  5. 5

    Answer "Yes" to the first question presented and click on the "Next" button to view the following question.

    Select the "Sound Set-Up Guide" link on the next question to continue to the next option.

    Click on the link that corresponds with the Windows program your computer is currently running, whether it is Windows Vista, XP or Linux.

    Follow the steps as they pertain to the program your computer is using until you have gone through all of the steps.

    Go back to the "Sound Set-Up Guide" link and select the "No" option if you are still having issues with your sound. Click "Next."

    Download the latest version of Skype. After the download has completed sign back on to Skype and preform an audio check to see if the problem still persists.

    Select the "Next" button if the problem is still present and call Skype customer service for further assistance.
