A Maglite is a sturdy and popular tool. The metal casing can take quite a bit of abuse. The lens is easily adjustable. The entire assembly is sealed tight to keep out water and is easily disassembled when you need to replace a part. There is even a spare bulb in the tail cap of your Maglite. This spare bulb is held firmly by a small plastic bulb holder called the lamp protector. Your lamp protector may crack or become worn and allow the spare bulb to fall out. When this happens you need to replace the lamp protector.

Slide the tip of your small needle nose pliers into the tail cap. Grasp the end of the old lamp protector with the pliers and pull it free.

  4. 4

Push the new lamp protector into the tail cap. Use the tip of your pliers to push the small piece of plastic to the bottom of the tail cap.

  5. 5

Slide the replacement bulb into the new bulb protector. Push the wide end of the battery spring into the opening of the tail cap.

  6. 6
