Make sure that the Touareg is turned off. Open the bonnet.
Loosen and remove the battery's mounting bracket using either an adjustable wrench or a pair of pliers.
Use the 1/2-inch wrench to loosen the bolts holding the battery terminals in place on the battery posts.
Remove the battery terminals from the posts, making sure they do not touch each other.
Clean any corrosion from the battery terminals using the toothbrush dipped in a solution of water and baking soda. Dry the terminals with a cloth when finished.
Remove the dead battery from the battery tray and replace it with a new battery.
Reconnect the battery terminals, tightening the bolts with the 1/2-inch wrench. Set the mounting bracket back in place, tightening as necessary. Close the bonnet.
