Outlook calendar events can display calendar details on a shared network. When you utilise the calendar on shared network, you can check the availability of others. If you have a private appointment or event, you need to take a few extra steps to ensure this item remains private. Select the private option prior to saving so this event is not shared with the network.

Open Outlook 2007 and select the "Calendar" icon in the Navigation Pane. Click "New" on the menu bar. Add the title of your event in the "Subject" field. Type the location of your event in the "Location" field. Add notes about the appointment in the "Notes" field of the event.
Select the "Appointment" tab on the ribbon. Locate the "Options" group. Click the "Private" button. This button resembles a lock so it is easy to find. Your appointment is now marked as private and is hidden on your shared network.
Click "Save and Close". The appointment is added to the calendar and is hidden from other users on your network.
