The TomTom XL GPS navigation system is designed to be easily expandable by using SD cards. If you've never added an SD card to your TomTom XL before, proper formatting of the card is necessary to ensure that the unit will accept the card. TomTom's website offers a number of downloadable maps for purchase, which saves the trouble of having to buy a new GPS system for trips--an especially useful feature for the world traveller.
