Sage Publications is one of the academic world's leading publishers of high quality, peer reviewed journals. Sage offers instant access to many of its journals through its Sage Journals Online website. If you, your employer, or your University maintain a subscription to a Sage journal, then it is easy to locate and download a journal article to a PDF file. If you don't currently have a subscription to the journal, then you'll need to pay a fee to download each article that you wish to access.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Open your web browser and navigate to the Sage Journals Online search page.

  2. 2

Click the "Browse Journal List" button on the left side of the screen.

  3. 3

Click "Journals By Title" if you know the title of the journal that you would like to access. Then click the letter that corresponds to the first letter of your journal and click on the journal name.

If you don't know the exact title of the journal that you are looking for, then click on the "Journals By Discipline" button. Click on the journal's general academic domain, and then click on the specific academic field that the journal covers. Doing so will reveal a list of all Sage publications in the chosen field; click on the title of the journal that you are looking for.

  4. 4

Click the "Current Issue" link if you want to download an article from the latest issue of the journal, or click the "All Issues" link if you want to access a back issue. To access a back issue, click on the year and volume that you want to access.

  5. 5

Locate the article that you want to download in the table of contents. Click the "Full Text (PDF)" link that is located under the article title. If your University or employer subscribes to the article then your PDF download will begin. If you have a personal subscription to the journal then you will need to input your Sage user name and password to start the download. If you don't have a subscription then click the "Pay Per Article" link and provide your credit card billing information to purchase access to the PDF article.
