How to Update Samsung DVD Firmware

Updated April 17, 2017

DVD players are technically computers, and they may need software and firmware updates to continue working properly. If your Samsung DVD player connects to the Internet, you can update your device by going into your system folder and selecting the option to search for a firmware update. If your DVD player does not connect to the Internet, you will need to use your computer to find available updates and transfer them to your DVD player.

Open your Internet browser and go to Samsung's firmware download page (see Resources).

Click on the "Category" button to open a drop-down menu.

Click on "Blu-ray Players & DVD Players."

Click on the "Sub-Category" button to open a drop-down menu.

Click on "DVD Players."

Click on the "Model Name" button and click on the number that corresponds with your DVD player. Your model number is on your DVD player's box and on the back of your DVD player.

Click on the "Model Code" button, and click on your specific number. This number is also found on the box or the back of your DVD player.

Click "Find It" to reveal the latest firmware updates. If your DVD player does not have any firmware updates, no downloads will be shown.

Download the firmware update and burn it to a blank DVD-R.

Insert the DVD-R into your Samsung DVD player and let the DVD player run the firmware update.
