How to Change the Cursor Speed

Updated July 20, 2017

The cursor is a movable icon that allows users to execute specific programs and commands. In most cases, the cursor resembles an arrow. However, users often change the cursor icon to an image that matches their preferences. In addition to being able to change the cursor icon, users also have the option to change the speed at which the cursor moves---the "pointer speed."

Click the "Start" button and open the "Control Panel."

Go to the left side of the screen and click "Switch to Classic View."

Click on the "Mouse" icon.

Go to the "Pointer Options" tab.

Under "Motion," drag the slider arrow to adjust the speed of your cursor.

Hold the "Windows" key and press "R." You can also access the mouse settings by using the Control Panel.

Type "main.cpl" inside the search box and press "Enter."

Go to the "Pointer Options" tab.

Under "Motion," drag the slider arrow to adjust the speed of your cursor.
