The Qibla is the direction toward which Muslims face during prayers. This direction faces the holiest place in Islam, the Kaaba (also Ka'ba or al-Ka'bah) -- a small, cube-shaped building in the courtyard of the Masjid al Haram mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The Kaaba is located at coordinates 21° 25' 24" N, 39° 49' 24" E. You can quickly calculate the Qibla using a number of websites (see Resources) on your computer or other web-enabled device.

  1. 1

Navigate a Web browser to the Qibla Pointer (see Resources).

  2. 2

Enter the zip code or address of the place from which you wish to pray. The input field is above the map. For example, if you live in Chicago with zip code 60614, enter "60614."

  3. 3

    Press the "Find!" button.

  4. 4

Read the Qibla direction in red to the right of the map. In the example, the direction is 9.25 degrees Crom North.
