Updated March 23, 2017

Missed a phone call and don't recognise the number on your caller identification? Don't blindly call back and get stuck in an unwanted conversation. Use a reverse phone-number search to find the unknown owner of the number. This type of search also comes in handy if you don't recognise a call on your phone bill and want to track it down. Find out who your children are calling or what company is trying to sell you something with this tool.

Go online to a reverse phone-number search website such as White Pages or AnyWho.

Enter the 10-digit phone number you want to search for in the reverse-number search form.

Press "Go" or press the "Enter" key. The results for the searched phone number will open in a new page. If the number is listed, the name and address associated with the number will appear.

Some companies may charge a fee to provide a name.
