How to Program a Panasonic DMR-ES30V DVD Recorder/VCR Combo

Updated April 17, 2017

The Panasonic DMR-ES30V is a combination DVD recorder and VCR. You can use it to watch DVDs and VHS tapes and record to both DVDs and VHS tapes. Recordings can either be performed manually or they can be programmed to start automatically on a set date and time in what's called a "scheduled" recording. Before setting up a scheduled recording, however, you need to make certain that the clock is set properly on your Panasonic DMR-ES30V. Otherwise, the scheduled recording won't execute correctly.

Turn on your Panasonic DMR-ES30V.

Press "Functions" on your remote. The "Functions" menu will open. Use the arrow button to highlight "Other Functions." Press "Enter." Highlight "Setup." Press "Enter." Highlight "Clock Settings." Press "Enter." Select "Set Clock Manually." Press "Enter."

Use the up and down arrows to adjust the "Month" setting to the current month. Press the right arrow to move to the "Day" field. Use the up and down arrows to set today's date. Move to the remaining fields (year, hour, and minute) and adjust their settings to reflect the current date and time.

Push "Enter" on your remote.

Insert a blank or unfinalized DVD-r disc into the DVD tray, and press "DVD" on your remote, if you want to record to a DVD disc. If you want to record to a VHS tape, press "VHS" on your remote and insert VHS tape (with an intact safety tab) into the VCR compartment. Cue the tape to the spot where you want your recording to begin.

Press "Schedule" on your remote control. The "Schedule List" menu will open. Use the arrow buttons on your remote to highlight "New Schedule Recording." Press "Enter."

Use the number pad on your remote to enter "03" as the channel number for your scheduled recording. The Panasonic DMR-ES30V is not equipped with an internal digital tuner. It has to be hooked up to a cable, satellite or digital converter box in order to record broadcast programming. Tune your cable, satellite or digital converter box to the channel broadcasting the program you want to record.

Press the right arrow to move the cursor to the "Date" field. Use the number pad on your remote to enter the date the show is scheduled to air. Move the cursor to the "On" field. Enter the scheduled start time for the broadcast (when prompted to select AM or PM, use the up or down arrow to highlight your selection). Move the cursor to the "Off" field. Enter the time the show is scheduled to end. Move the cursor to the "Mode" field. Press "Rec. Mode" on your remote to set your preferred recording speed (XP, SP, LP, EP, or FR --- with XP being the fastest speed). Press the right arrow to jump to the "Title" field (for DVD recordings only). A keyboard menu will open up. Utilise the arrow keys to highlight the first letter of your recordings title. Press "Enter" to select it. Highlight the second letter of the title and press "Enter." Repeat until your recording's title has been completely spelt out. Press "Stop" on your remote.

Push "Return" on your remote.
