Leggings have been around for a long time. They were extremely popular during the 1980s and have recently made their way back into the fashion world. There are a wide variety and styles of leggings available. But the footless leggings are an especially versatile accessory. They are so called accessories because while they are thick and opaque, they do not replace trousers. They are treated instead as accessories to accentuate the overall look.

  1. 1

Know your body type in advance to know which pieces of clothing to pair with the leggings. The shape of your body and its overall structure will determine the best colour, positioning and clothing to complement your body.

  2. 2

Wear a mini skirt over footless leggings. Choose a fabric you feel comfortable with and a colour that will match. Jean, corduroy and lace are all popular skirt materials that would pair particularly well with the leggings. This is a youthful style that is common amongst college students and recent graduates.

  3. 3

Wear a tunic or another free flowing top. Those with slim thighs can wear the top mid-thigh length, while those who prefer to show a little less leg can opt for a longer top that hits the knee. A loose fitting dress also works well with this style. This is a comfortable, yet versatile look, that can be taken to a beach outing or shopping.

  4. 4

Wear footless leggings underneath a pair of jean or wool shorts. This is a more casual look to pair with a basic tee and sneakers or flip flops.

  5. 5

Pair the leggings with a wide variety of shoes depending on the outfit. Flats and heels can both be worn with leggings, but which one you choose should really depend on the style of the outfit and your body type. Flats work well if you plan to take long walks and prefer comfort over fashion and can pair well with a casual or semi-casual look. Heels are ideal for a dressier look. If you have thicker or more muscular legs, wearing heels will help to elongate your legs without distracting from your overall appearance.
