However, even parts that have a good reputation can break down every once in a while. In some cases, you may only need to update your BIOS to fix an issue with an ASUS computer part. If you learn how to work with an afudos.exe file, you can make these kinds of changes easily.

    Insert a USB (Universal Serial Bus) flash drive into your laptop or desktop.

    Copy your BIOS file that contains updates to the USB flash drive.

  3. 3

    Put your motherboard support disk into your CD drive.

    Copy your executable AFUDOS file from the CD to your USB flash drive. Restart your computer.

    Enter the string below (once your command prompt comes up on your screen):

    afudos /i[name of BIOS file]

    Give your system time to complete the update and do not turn off your machine during this process. Once your update concludes, your system returns to the command prompt. Take out your USB drive and restart your system. Go to your BIOS menu and select the "Setup Default" option. Save and restart your computer to complete the process.
