Windows Media Player is a built-in media player that is included with operating systems such as Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Adding media folders to Windows Media Player allows you to quickly select and play the files inside the folders instead of browsing through your computer each time you want to play a file. Adding a folder containing DVD videos to Windows Media Player is similar to adding any other media folder.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Click the "Windows Media Player" icon on the Windows Vista/Windows 7 taskbar to open the program.

  2. 2

Click "Organize," point to "Manage Libraries" and then click "Videos."

  3. 3

Click the "Add" button on the "Video Library Locations" dialogue box. Use the navigation pane to browse to the location of the DVD folder that you want to add.

  4. 4

Click on the DVD folder to select it and click "Include Folder."

  5. 5

Click "OK" to add the folder to Windows Media Player.
