The Dyson DC07 vacuum uses an agitator brush roll to clean your carpet. The brush roll has hard bristles that agitate the carpet as you vacuum, bringing deep dirt up to the surface. Over time, the bristles on the brush roll wear down. Replacing a Dyson DC07 brush roll requires removing the bottom plate and the drive belt. It is a good idea to inspect the drive belt for wear and replace it if necessary when replacing the brush roll.

Turn off the power switch and unplug the Dyson DC07 power cord from the outlet. Lock the handle in the upright position and place the vacuum on its back.
Turn the three retaining pins 1/4-turn with a flathead screwdriver. The retaining pins are on the rear of the brush roll cover plate. There is one on each end and one toward the centre rear. They are usually the same colour as the vacuum cover.
Grasp the sides of the brush roll plate near the brush roll and slide the plate down. Remove the plate from the vacuum. Locate the brush roll belt and note where it attaches to the motor spindle. Pull the belt off the spindle with your fingers.
Lift the ends of the brush roll up with your hands, bringing the belt through the hole in the vacuum head. Take the belt off the brush roll.
Place the belt over the new brush roll along the belt groove channel. Insert the brush roll in the cavity, threading the belt through the hole in the vacuum head. The end caps of the brush roller have small plugs that fit securely to the side of the vacuum head.
Stretch the belt over the motor spindle with your fingers. Do not use a screwdriver to stretch the belt because it could damage the belt.
Slide the brush roll cover back into position and secure with the three retaining screws.
