Turn on the power switch for the equipment and anything connected to it if the videoconferencing product doesn’t power up. The power is provided through the subwoofer, so the subwoofer must be connected for the system to work. Press the power button briefly if the system starts in the software update screen, which means the power button was pressed for too long. Power on the monitor if the monitor is blank.
Replace the batteries in the remote control if the Polycom VXS 7000 doesn’t respond to the remote control. Press any button on the remote control if the monitor goes blank after displaying the splash screen. The system goes to sleep after inactivity. The remote control action will wake it up.
Try the call again if the progress indicators don’t turn green when placing a call. Use full international numbers including country codes if you are on an ISDN system.
Enter the correct password if you can’t navigate to the Admin screens without a password. The default password is the system’s serial number.
Go to the Admin Settings and select Monitors. Choose the correct monitor connection if the video is in black and white. If you are using composite cables, select Composite. If you are using an S-Video cable, select S-Video.
Check that the camera you are using is capable of pan and tilt if the pan and tilt function doesn’t work. Move closer to the Polycom VXS 7000's microphone if the people at the far site can’t hear you. You are too far from the microphone. Try un-muting the microphone—look for the microphone mute light.
