How to Refill the Konica Minolta 4518 Cartridge
Purchase a toner refill kit for much less than a new toner cartridge. (ink cartridges image by itsallgood from Fotolia.com)

Konica Minolta 4518 laser printer cartridges are designed for use with Konica and Minolta 2900 and 3900 model laser fax machines. When your cartridge runs out of toner, it typically costs more than £65 to purchase a new toner cartridge, as of September 2010. If you're willing to get your hands dirty, you can instead purchase a toner refill kit that contains toner specially formulated to mimic the original toner in your 4518's cartridge. These kits are available at a fraction of the cost of a replacement cartridge and come with all tools needed for the refill procedure.

Instructions

  1. 1

Purchase a toner refill kit that is specifically designed to replace toner in a Konica 4518 cartridge. A kit costs £14 for a single refill or £26 for a double refill, as of September 2010, and it contains all tools and instructions needed to refill your cartridge. After you own the tools required for refill, you can purchase toner in bulk at a slightly discounted rate.

  2. 2

Remove the Konica 4518 toner cartridge from your printer.

  3. 3

Use the specially designed hole burning tool that came with your kit to pierce a fill hole in your Konica 4518 toner cartridge.

  4. 4

Screw the replacement toner bottle over the fill hole.

  5. 5

Invert the bottle and gently tap the side to help funnel the replacement toner into the cartridge. Be sure not to shake or squeeze the bottle to avoid creating a mess.

  6. 6

Remove the empty bottle from the fill hole.

  7. 7

Seal the fill hole with aluminium tape. This tape is also included in a refill kit.

Tips and warnings

  • Only refill your Konica Minolta 4518 cartridge with toner that is specifically formulated to mimic your cartridge's original toner. Using generic toner, or toner designed for a different printer, may cause your laser fax machine to malfunction.
