How to Remove the Child Lock on a Panasonic Genius Sensor Microwave

Updated February 21, 2017

The Panasonic Genius Microwave has a child lock feature that prevents children from using the microwave. Not only can children make a mess in a microwave, but they may also burn themselves on overheated food. While the name of the feature may give the impression of a locked door, this feature actually turns off the cooking capability of the microwave. The child lock can be turned on and off at any time using a quick button combination on the microwave's control panel.

Plug the microwave into an electrical socket if necessary. Make sure the plug is secure in the outlet.

Press the "Stop/Reset" button three times in a row. This should automatically turn off the child lock. The time of day or a colon will appear on the display when the child lock is disabled.

Press the "Start" button three times in a row to enable the child lock.
