How to Keep Autodesk Maya From Expiring

Updated March 23, 2017

Autodesk Maya is one of the most sophisticated 3-D modelling and animation programs on the market. If you are interested in trying out Maya, a free 30-day trial is available on the Autodesk website. Unfortunately, after the 30-days are through, you must activate Maya in order to continue using it. However, purchasing Maya is a simple process if you do so during the trial period. After paying for the upgrade, you simply need to enter a serial number and product key into the trial software. This automatically updates the program to the full version without needing to buy more software.

Open the Autodesk Maya trial software. Click the "Buy Now" button. This opens your web browser.

Choose either "with Subscription Electronic Download" or "without Subscription Electronic Download." Purchasing the Maya subscription gives you access to support and updates from Autodesk. As of 2010, the cost of the program with subscription is £2,658, and without the subscription it's £2,271. Click "Add to Cart" after making your selection.

Click the "Checkout" button on the right side of the website. This opens the shopping trolley page. Review your purchase, then click "Checkout."

Enter your contact and billing information. Autodesk accepts major credit cards, PayPal and Bill Me Later for payment. You will also be asked to create a password. Using your e-mail and this password, you will create an Autodesk account. Once you've submitted your billing information, review your order and submit it.

Check your e-mail. You should receive your activation codes at the email address you entered within a few minutes of ordering.

Open the Maya trial. Click the button at the top of the window that says "Activate Autodesk Maya." In the text box, enter both the serial number and the product key you received in the email. Press "Next" when finished.

Enter the email and password for your Autodesk account. Press the "Next" button. The Activation Confirmation screen will appear. Maya will no longer expire at this point.

Don't lose your activation codes, as you will need them if you need to reinstall the software.
