The Hewlett-Packard Deskjet F380 is a colour inkjet printer that uses a black ink cartridge and a single colour ink cartridge. The cartridges can be refilled when the ink level becomes low. Each cartridge contains a chip that keeps track of how much the cartridge is used to determine when the ink should be empty. In order to use a refilled ink cartridge in the HP F380, the chip on each cartridge must be reset so the printer will treat it as a full cartridge.
Remove the cartridges from the F380 printer.
Position the cartridges so they are right side up and the gold leads are facing you.
Place a small piece of tape over the gold contact in the top left corner of each cartridge.
Place the cartridge back in the F380 printer. The printer automatically prints an alignment page.

Insert the cartridges into the F380 printer. The printer prints a cartridge alignment page. Each cartridge is now recognised as a full ink cartridge.
