If you use your Dell laptop regularly, the computer gradually will sustain general wear and tear. Constant closing and opening of the laptop can slowly loosen the hinges that connect the screen to the bottom half of the laptop. You can tighten the screws that connect the hinges to the laptop with a screwdriver. If the hinges are broken, purchase replacement Dell laptop hinges, which you can quickly and easily install yourself.

    Remove the rubber covers on the hinges located on either side of the laptop.

    Dust off the exposed hinges with the rag. This process will make it easier to tighten the hinges.

    Tighten the screws using the screwdriver. Apply enough pressure to keep the hinges stiff, but not so stiff that you are unable to open and close the laptop.

    Replace the rubber coverings.
