Digital DVD slide shows have replaced the traditional slide-by-slide carousel. Digital versions allow users to add custom music and effects. Using the Nero Vision application within Nero 8, you can create your own slide show and burn directly to DVD within the same project. Nero accepts multiple photo formats that can be mixed in the same project.

Start a new DVD project in Nero Vision. Select the type of DVD you want to burn, a standard DVD, mini-DVD or Dual-layered disc. Most photo slide shows will fit on a mini-DVD or standard DVD.
Click on the "Create a Slideshow" icon on the right side of the screen. You will get a new window and layout on the screen.
Select the small "Folder" icon at the top, right-hand corner of the screen. Use the explorer window to select the photos that you want to use. Hold the "Ctrl" key to select multiple photos or hold the mouse button and drag to highlight multiple photos. Click "OK" and wait for Nero to analyse and import the photos.
Scroll through the photos. A small icon appears to the left of each photo that shows a preview of the file.
Drag and drop a photo down into the "Timeline" window to add it to the project. A preview of the photo appears in the left-hand Preview Monitor. Repeat this process until all the photos are added to the project.
Change the order of certain pictures by dragging them to different sections of the Timeline. Remove a picture by clicking it and pressing "Delete" on the keyboard.
Click on the "Transitions" icon at the top of the screen. Scroll through the different transitions and see a small preview next to each title. Drag and drop transitions in-between photos to apply them. You can use as many transitions or the same transitions for each photo.
Click on the "Music Note" icon to import audio or music into the slide show. Drag and drop the audio into the bottom of the Timeline, to apply the music.
Preview the slide show by clicking "Play" in the Preview Monitor. All the transitions and effects will play in the preview. Make any adjustments and play the slide show again to double check for errors.
Click on the "Next" option to add the slide show to the DVD project. Give the slide show a title that appears on the DVD menu.
Follow the on-screen prompts to choose a DVD menu from the presets. Select the "Import" option to add your own picture for the background of the menu.
Insert a blank DVD into your computer. Click "Next" until you reach the final screen with a "Burn" icon. Set the DVD burn settings and click on the icon to start the burn process. The slide show will process and the DVD will automatically burn.
