How to Reset the Maintenance Light in a Toyota Corolla

Updated February 21, 2017

Many Toyota Corolla models are equipped with a maintenance reminder light that turns on at regular mileage intervals to remind the driver to get the engine oil changed. When a service technician changes the engine oil in the Corolla, he resets the maintenance light so it will not turn on again until the mileage threshold is reached. If the owner of the vehicle does the oil change themselves, she can also manually reset the maintenance-required light. The instructions for the 2010 Corolla apply to earlier models as well.

Turn the ignition switch to the "Off" position.

Press and hold the Trip Odometer Reset button.

Turn the ignition switch to the "On" position. Do not start the engine. Continue to hold down the Trip Odometer Reset button.

Release the Trip Odometer Reset button after "000000" appears on the trip odometer display and the maintenance light turns off.
