How to Disable a Screensaver in Silverlight

In 2009, the popular video streaming service Netflix announced they would be switching to using Microsoft Silverlight as the platform for their video player. Early versions of Silverlight would not disable a computer's screensaver automatically when playing video. Newer versions of Silverlight automatically disable and re-enable the screensaver. If you are still using an old version, however, you will need to manually disable it.

    Right-click on your desktop and select "Personalise".

    Click on "Screen Saver" to open the screen saver options.

  3. 3

    Click on the drop-down menu in the screen saver options and select "(None)". Click "OK".

Tips and warnings

  • To enable the screensaver again after you are done, simply repeat the process, selecting any screensaver from the drop-down menu instead of selecting "(None)".
