The master reset, or factory reset, completely wipes your BlackBerry Curve and resets it to factory default. Only use this form of resetting if you are experiencing constant freezing and errors that cannot be resolved by pulling out the battery in a hard reset. You will lose all stored data and downloaded applications on the phone when you do a master reset.
