If you have just installed a new AMD Athlon CPU, or you want to overclock one, you may need to make sure it is running within the appropriate temperature range. An overheating CPU can ruin hardware or cause the system to automatically slow the CPU in an attempt to cool it, which will drastically decrease system performance. Download and install any of a variety of freely-available temperature-detecting programs.
