You can operate many of JVC's or other manufacturers' devices using the remote control that comes with the product you have purchased. For example, the remote that comes with JVC's compact component system, the HX-GD8C mini Hi-Fi system, can be used to operate a television, too. Televisions from Hitachi, Magnavox, Mitsubishi, Panasonic and more can be programmed to work with JVC remotes.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Press and hold down the TV/Power button on the JVC remote. While holding down the button, press "Enter" button to enter the code-setting mode.

  2. 2

Enter the two-digit code for the television manufacturer on the remote control using the number buttons. JVC is 01; Hitachi is 10; Magnavox is 02; Mitsubishi is 03; Panasonic is either 04 or 11; RCA is 05; Samsung is 12; Sanyo is 13; Sharp is 06; Sony is 07; Toshiba is 08; Zenith is 09.

  3. 3

Release the TV button and test. To turn the TV on or off, press the TV button on the remote. Test selecting the input mode for the TV--it can be either TV or Video by pressing "Shift" and then "TV/Video." Test the volume adjustment on the TV by pressing "Shift" and then the Volume up or down keys. Select a channel by pressing "Shift" and then the left or right "TV Channel" buttons.
