How to Connect a Laptop to the Panasonic Viera

Updated February 21, 2017

The Panasonic Viera is a series of high-definition television sets with different types of video inputs for connecting components. To connect the video output from your laptop to the Panasonic, you'll need a standard VGA (video graphics array) cable that will attach to the D-sub 15-pin port on the edge of the Viera TV. Once the cable is connected, a simple hotkey combination turns off the laptop display and activates the output to the Panasonic. The hotkey combination varies depending on the laptop model.

Plug one end of the cable to the D-sub 15-pin port on the edge of the Viera. The port has three rows of five holes each.

Connect the other end of the cable to the video output on your laptop.

Turn on the laptop and the Panasonic Viera.

Press the Viera remote control's video source button until "PC Input" displays on the screen.

Press the laptop's "Fn" key and the function key on the top row that has a video screen icon. A link to a list of hotkey combinations for activating the video output on different laptop models is in the Resources section.
